Posted Date: 05/17/2023

Clearwater USD 264 is pleased to announce that Dustin Clevenger has been named assistant principal and activities director for Clearwater High School. Clevenger has been with the district since 2007 and now joins Eric Cooper, principal, in leading the school.

“The last 16 years as a classroom teacher have been extremely rewarding, but I am excited for the new opportunities and challenges of being an assistant principal,” Clevenger said.

In addition to teaching business, Clevenger was also the head coach for boys basketball since 2009, assistant softball coach since 2017, and head golf coach from 2012-2016. Clevenger used his skills and love of working with students as the faculty sponsor of many clubs and organizations. He has also held leadership roles including CTE Co-Coordinator, Districts on the Move, Building Leadership Team, and the District Technology Committee.

It’s not the work, but the connection with others that he values the most. He said, “My relationships with former teachers and administrators at CHS as a student and teacher have been incredibly impactful on my life. Mr. Mellen, Mr. Pauly, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Chris Cooper, Mr. Eric Cooper, Mr. Elliott, Mr. Roth, Mr. Coffman, Dr. Nickelson, Mr. Martin, Mr. Riggs were all incredible leaders and people. They set the standard here at USD 264.”

Clevenger is a 1996 graduate of CHS. He lives here with his wife, Trisha Clevenger, a sixth grade teacher, and his three children.

“As a former student, I believe we have one of the best communities and school districts in the state. I am proud to be a graduate of CHS and know that our staff continues to do what is best for kids,” he said.

“We are excited to see what Dustin will do as assistant principal,” said Chris Cooper, Superintendent. “He sees every day as an opportunity to have a positive impact on students. He’ll be a fantastic support for the hard-working staff at CHS.”
