She’ll pick up her bass clarinet and perform with Kansas’ top high school band students at the KSMEA All-State 1234A Band Concert. This is her second year in a row to make it to state.
State Honor Band takes place Saturday, February 26, at Century II Concert Hall in Wichita. It’s open to the public and tickets can be purchased through the WichitaTix office.
From Mr. Hibler, Clearwater director of bands, “ I’m so proud of Abby! She works so hard. It takes so much practice and commitment to even be able to audition for the state-level group and she made it in! Thank you to her parents for supporting her in this.”
The road to earning a top spot at state band is a long one with many challenges along the way. Abby achieved First Chair for District Honor Band - also her second year in a row to make District Honor Band. She auditioned the same week she performed in the school musical. For the audition, students are given a pre-selected, difficult piece of music and must perform solo for judges.
The talented and hard-working Senior’s future plans include attending K-state, majoring in music education while participating in band.
Abby, you make us #ClearwaterProud. Best of luck.
